Usage
Always take the drug in full compliance with the recommendations of your doctor. If in doubt, consult your doctor.
Recommended dose:
Doses of Praziquantel are strictly individualised and depend on the type of pathogen.
In the treatment of infections caused by trematodes, the therapeutic activity and tolerability of the active substance can be increased by splitting the total dose and taking the drug at 4-hour intervals. All single doses should be at least 20 mg/kg body weight.
The film-coated tablet is divided into 4 doses of 150 mg of praziquantel each, allowing the dosage to be precisely matched to the patient's body weight.
Unless otherwise prescribed, the following daily doses are recommended:
Adults:
Schistosoma haematobium, Schistosoma mansoni and Schistosoma intercalatum: 40 mg/kg body weight, divided into 1-2 doses. Duration of treatment is 1 day.
Schistosoma japonicum and Schistosoma mekongi: 60 mg/kg body weight, divided into 2-3 doses. Duration of treatment - 1 day.
Clonorchis sinensi and Opisthorchis viverrini: 75 mg/kg body weight divided into 3 doses. Duration of treatment - 1-3 days.
Paragonimus westermani and other species of pulmonary parasites: 75 mg/kg body weight divided into 3 doses. Duration of treatment - 2-3 days.
